June 11, 2013 By Bill Scott

The Milwaukee Brewers tied a season high with 16-hits as they rolled to a 6-1 win

Yovani Gallardo

over the Miami Marlins on Monday night.  It’s the 4th straight win for the Brewers.

Jonathan Lucroy had 4 hits while Carlos Gomez and Rickie Weeks had 3-hits each, all while playing without Ryan Braun, who is sitting out while trying to rest his sore thumb.

Yovani Gallardo worked 8 strong innings, walking one and striking out four, dropping his earned-run average from 5.25 to 4.74.

Gallardo also struck out his 1,000th career hitter, becoming the third Brewers pitcher to reach the 1,000 strikeout milestone.  The others are Ben Sheets and Teddy Higuera.

Braun was held out of the lineup to rest his sore right hand.  He’s expected to get the entire series off.  Logan Schafer took his place in left field last night.

Wily Peralta (4-7, 6.16) pitches for the Brewers tonight against Miami’s Jacob Turner (1-0, 0.69).

Braun drops in all-star balloting

Ryan Braun fell from third to fourth in all-star balloting for National League outfielders.  He was passed up by St. Louis outfielder Carlos Beltran.
