Wausau Pride parade cancelled

June 20, 2013 By WRN Contributor

A Gay Pride parade that was supposed to happen in Wausau Saturday is cancelled. City Clerk Toni Rayala confirmed that she received written notice from event organizers Daxx Bouvier and David Gorski . “This serves as formal notice without prejudice that the gay pride parade which was to be held on June 22, 2013 has been canceled at the time of this document.”

Rayala said  she has notified the city departments affected by the change. A similar, but much smaller event will still happen Saturday as scheduled. The March For Equality organized by Shannon Thomas will involve less than a dozen expected participants. Rayala said they will be using sidewalks and require no city services, so no permit is required.
