Charges filed in fatal hit-and-run

July 31, 2013 By WRN Contributor

Charges have been filed in Polk County, in a weekend incident in which a woman was struck and killed in a tavern parking lot. District Attorney Dan Steffen said it began with “a melee” at Staples Lake Bar and Grill Saturday at 2:30 a.m.

The driver, 26 year-old Benjamin Biron of Comstock, is charged with hit-and-run, and vehicular homicide in the death of 35 year-old Michelle Lowe of Luck. Steffen said the bar owner took down Biron’s license plate number, leading to his apprehension.
