Packers open Training Camp

The Green Bay Packers are on the practice field Friday morning as 2013 Training Camp begins.

Last season, injuries were a big story of camp.  At times, the Packers were so depleted at some positions, they needed to cut practices short.  This year, health was on the mind of Head Coach Mike McCarthy when he put together the schedule…

This year doesn’t necessarily start out on the right foot when it comes to injuries.  Seven Packers failed their physical and will start the year on the physically unable to perform list:

  • RB DuJuan Harris
  • OL Derek Sherrod
  • OL J.C Tretter
  • DL Jerel Worthy
  • DL Mike Neal
  • S Sean Richardson
  • S Chaz Powell

One of the other big off-season stories has been the departure of Greg Jennings.  Since signing with Minnesota, Jennings has been spewing disparaging comments about the Packers offense and Aaron Rodgers.  It’s hard to say if he is being serious or if he is having fun at the expense of the media.  McCarthy was asked Monday about his former wide-out…

The Packers will hit the field three straight days before taking Monday off.  All three practices will begin at 8:20 AM.  Friday and Saturday will be in shells while Sunday will be the first full padded practice of camp.
