Peralta goes the distance as the Brewers blank Cincinnati (AUDIO)

July 10, 2013 By Bill Scott

Heading into Tuesday’s game with the Cincinnati Reds, Milwaukee Brewer starting pitchers were in a 407-game stretch without a complete game.  Yovani Gallardo was the last to toss all 9-innings back on April 5th of 2011.

Wily Peralta put a stop to that run as the Brewers blanked the Reds 2-0 at Miller Park.  Peralta tossed a 3-hit shutout while striking out 6 and walking 4.

Logan Schaefer provided the game’s offense.  His 2-run homer in the 5th inning was all either team was able to put across the plate.  It was the first long ball of Schaefer’s career.

Ryan Braun returned to the lineup Tuesday night smashing a single to center in his first at-bat.  Braun was 1-for-3 for the game before exiting in the 7th inning.  He has been out of the lineup since June 10th with a thumb injury.

Milwaukee will try for the sweep of the Reds this afternoon.  Johnny Hellweg (0-2, 12.79 ERA) goes for Milwaukee against Mike Leake (7-4, 2.73 ERA) of the Reds.  First pitch is 1:10 at Miller Park.
