Statewide home sales continue to climb

The latest figures from the Wisconsin Realtors Association show a big jump in statewide home sales during the first half of 2013.

The WRA says home sales were up 11.4 percent during the first six months of the year, capping off 24 straight months of positive sales growth in the state. Median home prices also continued to rise compared to the first half of 2012, up 7.7 percent to $140,000.

During the month of June, home sales were up 3.1 percent over last year. The median price was up 12.3 percent, to just under $159,500.

Construction of new homes was also up 12.3 percent during the first six months of 2013.
