Two dead in Marinette Co. incident

Two people are dead in Marinette County, and an investigation is underway into the violent incident near Pound. Sheriff’s deputies were called at around at around 10:00 p.m. Monday, on a report of a car crashing into a house on North 5th Road. A man in his 20’s was found in the car, suffering from a gunshot wound, and was transported to a Green Bay hospital where he died.

Follow-up led deputies to another vehicle, where they found a man with a shotgun and handgun inside. Sheriff Jerome Sauve said the man, believed to be in his 70s, refused to surrender and eventually pointed a gun at deputies, who opened fire and killed the suspect Names have not yet been released.
