McCarthy still waiting for a return man to step up (AUDIO)

With Greg Jennings in Minnesota and Donald Driver retired, Randall Cobb’s roll in the Green Bay Packers offense will be bigger this year.  That is why Head Coach Mike McCarthy would like to take him of special teams.

The problem is, no one as emerged to take that role.  The Packers have worked out numerous players in the return spots so far in camp, however, Cobb remains the best option…

AUDIO: Mike McCarthy wants someone needs to step up in the return game :18At the end of last season, Jeremy Ross relieved Cobb of some of his duties in the return game.  However, a big dropped punt in the playoff  loss to San Francisco has Ross needing to rebuild the team’s confidence in him.  Ross has put that drop behind him and is hoping to win the return job…

Other notable players that have been working out in returns are Jonathan Franklin (kickoffs), Sam Shields (kickoffs), and Tramon Williams (punts).  However, Williams is currently sidelined with a knee injury.

The Packers next practice is 8:20 AM Thursday in full pads.
