Mishicott football players help with cleanup

August 9, 2013 By WRN Contributor

Mishicot’s school superintendent is proud of her high school football team for pitching to help the community. The Manitowoc County village was hit hard early Wednesday by severe weather. Superintendent Collen Timm was on her way into work Wednesday morning and was completely unprepared for the devastation. “Trees on both sides of the main street were folded in to the street,” she said. “There was damage to homes. It was very shocking to see, very upsetting to see.”

Timm had a series of interviews with job applicants – one of whom mentioned the devastation and the football team pitching in. Tim had no idea the football team had changed its morning practice plans in order to lend a hand in cleanup. The team’s head coach and assistant coaches worked side by side with the players. “I’m thrilled that they helped kids learn about priorities,” Tim said. “Football is important. Athletics are important. But sometimes other things are more important.”
