FCS Schools depend on FBS matchups for the cash

September 5, 2013 By Bill Scott

The Wisconsin Badgers are getting ready to face FCS opponent Tennessee Tech onMotionW_2Color Saturday at Camp Randall Stadium.

This could be the last time the Badgers play a FCS school because the Big Ten has asked its member schools to beef up their non-conference schedules.

Tennessee Tech head coach Watson Brown is in his seventh season with the Golden Eagles.  He said they need to play FBS schools like Wisconsin to enhance the schools budget.

Tennessee Tech will earn a guaranteed $500,000 to square off against the Badgers on Saturday.  Brown knows these matchups could go away in the future.  He’s naturally hoping that they don’t.

Tennessee Tech won its only game so far this season, beating Cumberland 63-7.  They scored on nine of their first ten possessions.

The Badgers are coming off a 45-0 win over Massachusetts in their opener last week.
