September 26, 2013 By WRN Contributor

Officials in Marathon County have identified the man killed in a squirrel hunting accident last weekend.

Sheriff’s investigators say 32-year-old Seng Her accidentally shot and killed 29-year-old Xou Chang Sunday from about fifty yards away. Xou was near a tree collecting two squirrels he had previously shot, when he was struck in the head by a single rifle round.

Seng’s brother, 37-year-old Blong Her, was part of the hunting party. All three men are from Wausau. The shooting happened at about 9:10 a.m. Sunday, September 22nd on private land in the Town of Halsey, which is northeast of Athens.

Marathon County Sheriff’s investigators and the Department of Natural Resources are continuing their investigation.
