Packers release WR Ross

September 23, 2013 By Bill Scott

The Green Bay Packers released wide receiver and returner Jeremy Ross today, after he fumbled a kickoff in the 1st quarter of Sunday’s 34-30 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Ross was slow to react to a short kick and the Bengals recovered on the Packers’ 2-yard line and scored on the very next play to make it 14-0 Cincinnati.

The Packers were hoping Ross would take the return job and run with it, but that hasn’t happened.  The Packers were even forced to use Randall Cobb in certain situations.

Ross muffed a punt that cost the Packers a touchdown in their playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers last season.

The Packers have yet to make a corresponding move.  They have extra time because the team is headed into its bye week and won’t return to practice for a week.
