Small plane crashes in Marathon County

September 30, 2013 By WRN Contributor

The pilot of a small plane was able to escape without injury, after the aircraft crashed while trying to land.

The Marathon County Sheriff’s Department says the pilot was trying to land the plan at a private air field Sunday afternoon, when it was hit by a gust of wind that caused it to crash. The pilot was not injured, although the airplane caught fire and is considered a total loss.

The identity of the pilot was not released. An investigation continues.
