Milwaukee Brewers center fielder Carlos Gomez has been selected the winner of the
Carlos Gomez – UPI/Bill Greenblatt
2013 Rawlings Gold Glove Award, beating out the Pirates Andrew McCutchen (Pirates) and Denard Span of the Washington Nationals.
Gomez earned the 10th Gold Glove in Brewers franchise history and became the fifth different Brewer to earn the honor, joining George Scott, Cecil Cooper, Sixto Lezcano and Robin Yount.
It ended a 30-year drought since Robin Yount last won a Gold Glove in 1982 as a shortstop.
Gomez recorded a career-high 12 assists this season, trailing only New York Met’s outfielder Juan Lagares (14) for the Major League lead among center fielders. Gomez made five home run-saving catches.
