Matthews eyeing return with Packers

October 31, 2013 By Bill Scott

Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews confirmed Wednesday that he would have the pins removed from his broken thumb on Monday.  At that time, Matthews will get a much clearer picture as to where the healing process is with his thumb and how fast he’ll be able to return to action.

Matthews is anxiously awaiting his return, but he knows he has to be smart about it.  One thing Matthews isn’t, is patient.

Once the pins are removed, if all goes well, Matthews could play against the Eagles.  He’ll still be restricted somewhat by a club-like soft cast that he’ll have to wear for a while.
