Roncalli captures Olympian-Packerland Large (AUDIO)

October 18, 2013 By Bill Scott

The game was supposed to be a great matchup, one for the ages.  But last night’s Olympian-Packerland Conference (large) Championship matchup between Manitowoc Roncalli and Kewaunee was anything but.

Roncalli blanked Kewaunee 35-0 in the battle of previous unbeatens.  It’s the Jets that win the undisputed Olympian-Packerland Conference Large school title, their first conference championship since 1989.

Roncalli tailback Joey MacDonald rushed for 127 yards and a pair of second half touchdowns in the win.  Those two scores put the game on ice, after the Jets jumped out to a 19-0 halftime lead.

The Jets held the Storm to just 79 total yards of offense.

The game wrapped up the regular season. Both teams will soon find out their assignment in the WIAA playoffs which start next week.
