Showalter to redshirt this season

Wisconsin sophomore guard Zak Showalter has decided to redshirt this season.

Showalter averaged 6.7 minutes in 22 games as a true freshman last season, looked at the logjam of bodies in the Badgers’ backcourt and wondered how much he’d see the floor this season.  Showalter Jim Polzin of the Wisconsin State Journal that he made the decision to redshirt after meeting with Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan before Monday’s practice.

Showalter helped Germantown to the first of back-t0-back WIAA Division 1 titles as a senior in 2012.
