Stricker helps Americans take Presidents Cup lead

October 4, 2013 By Bill Scott

Madison’s Steve Stricker helped the Americans grab the first day lead on day one of the Presidents Cup at Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio.

Stricker’s difficult sand shot to three feet saved par as he and 20-year-old Jordan Spieth held on for a 1-up win in the final match of the day.

That gave the Americans a 3 1/2 to 2 1/2 lead after the first day of competition.  It’s the fourth straight time the Americans have led after the opening session of Presidents Cup play.
