Tolzien gets a raise

October 31, 2013 By Bill Scott

The Cleveland Browns tried to sign QB Scott Tolzien off of the Green Bay Packers practice squad, but Tolzien passed on a chance to be on a 53-man roster to stay with the Packers.

Green Bay has rewarded Tolzien for his loyalty by increasing his salary from $6,000 a week to a base salary of $544,999, as reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel today.

That means Tolzien will receive $32,058 per week for the final nine weeks of the season.  His prorated salary for the year would be $288,529, after making $48,000 during the first eight weeks of the season.

Keeping Tolzien in Green Bay and bumping his salary means they want him around to compete for a roster spot next season.
