Wisconsin Marine dies in Afghanistan

October 8, 2013 By Bob Hague

The body of a Wisconsin Marine who died over the weekend in Afghanistan is headed home. The Pentagon confirmed Monday that 19-year-old Lance Corporal Jeremiah Collins Junior of Milwaukee died on Saturday at Camp Leatherneck in the province of Helmand.

The military did not say how he died, and his family said the cause remains under investigation. Collins joined the Marine Corps 16 months ago and served as an intelligence specialist in Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 2nd Marine Logistics Group at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.
