A missing Waukesha County girl has been found safe and alive in Chicago. Sheriff’s Department Inspector Eric Severson says 15-year-old Kathryn Stalbaum approached a police officer Friday and asked for help. Police do not yet know how she ended up in Chicago, but Severson says the girl’s family is “elated that she is safe…we all are.”
Severson says the investigation is still ongoing and officials were heading to Chicago Friday night to speak with the girl. Severson says “we’ve got a lot of questions that we need to have answered.” He says they hope to have more information after local officials have had a chance to speak with the girl.

The Town of Genesee girl disappeared on Tuesday morning while riding her bike to school. The last contact anyone had with her was a text message to a friend saying she had missed her bus. Police have been searching the region for her since then. Severson on Friday thanked volunteers and the media for all of their help in getting information out about the missing girl.
