Waupun bomb threats suspect arrested

November 14, 2013 By WRN Contributor

A 31-year-old sex offender from Markesan has been arrested in connection with a dozen bomb threats made in Waupun over a four-day span this week. Waupun Deputy Police Chief Scott Louden says ironically it wasn’t tips from a $1,000 reward that led to the man’s arrest, but cell phone records.

The man was brought in for questioning because of other accusations. The convicted sex offender had been serving as a referee at youth sporting contests.

Louden says although the threats in Waupun happened on both sides of the Dodge/Fond du Lac County line, all 12 counts will be prosecuted through Dodge County. He says the suspect is expected to make his initial appearance in Dodge County Court late Friday morning.
