Badgers rally to beat Green Bay in women’s hoops

December 31, 2013 By Bill Scott

A late 18-6 second half surge capped by a long-range three-point shot from Wisconsin’s Nicole Bauman with less than a second remaining tied the game before the Badgers completed their comeback in overtime, beating the Green Bay Phoenix 65-61.

Wisconsin overcame a season-high 13 point halftime deficit in the victory.  Wisconsin improved to 3-0 against in-state teams this season for the first time since 2008-09.  The win also ended a 4-game losing streak against Green Bay.

Green Bay shot just 29% from the field for the game (19-65) while the Badgers improved on their 31% mark at halftime to finish the game at 44% (23-52).  The Badgers turned the ball over 20 times, but they won the battle on the boards 43-38.

Green Bay falls to 6-5 after suffering a 4th straight defeat.  They’ll play their final non-conference game on Wednesday against Maine at the Kress Center (1pm).
