Cubs hire Hinske as 1st base coach

December 3, 2013 By Bill Scott

New Chicago Cubs manager Rick Renturia rounded out his coaching staff by hiring Menasha native Eric Hinske as the Cubs new 1st base coach.

Hinske was the Cubs 17th round draft pick back in 1998.  The 36-year-old played 12-seasons in the majors.

Hinske captured the 2002 Rookie of the Year award with the Toronto Blue Jays.  He later went on to win World Series crowns with the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox.
