Double homicide investigated in Bayfield Co.

The Bayfield County Sheriff’s Department is continuing the investigation into the weekend murders of an elderly Iron River couple. The victims have been identified as 79-year-old Jim Crain and his 76-year-old wife Eunice. Arrested at the scene was their 44-year-old son.  Jimmy Crain is currently under guard in a Duluth Hospital with non life threatening injuries. He will be jailed following his discharge from the hospital. The Sheriff’s Department says there are no other suspects in the crime.

Sheriff’s deputies responded about 6:15 p.m. Saturday to a 911 call reporting an altercation in progress at the couple’s apartment in Iron River, a community of some 1,000 residentsple about 40 miles southeast of Duluth.
