An early morning fire has left a Door County inn partially destroyed.
Fire fighters were called to the Ephraim Inn at about 7:15 Monday morning, arriving to find fire coming through the roof of the north end of the structure. Ephraim Assistant Fire Chief Justin MacDonald says multiple departments responded to the scene. The fire was eventually put out about early Monday afternoon.
A draft wall helped protect the majority of the hotel from further damage, but 10 rooms of the 17 room facility were impacted by the fire.
The hotel was closed for the season and there was no one inside when the fire broke out. Investigators are still working to determine the cause, but MacDonald says they do not believe it’s suspicious at this point.
