Phoenix fall victim after slow start

December 11, 2013 By Bill Scott

Senior Alec Brown scored 19 points and pulled down 10 rebounds but the Green Bay Phoenix (5-3) couldn’t overcome a tough first half and fell to Eastern Michigan (6-3) 67-58 at the Convocation Center in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

After Green Bay jumped out to a 7-4 lead, Eastern Michigan used a 23-6 run over the next 12-plus minutes to take a 27-13 lead.

The Phoenix finally got hot in the second half and closed to within 41-35 with 9:18 left, but that’s all the closer Green Bay would get.

Green Bay returns to action on Saturday at South Dakota.
