Investigators in the Village of Somerset say they have identified a man accused of verbally threatening a student at an elementary school this morning, prompting a district wide lock down.
Police located and questioned 20-year-old Joseph Wallace Thursday afternoon, just hours after a student reported an incident to a teacher. Department officials say Wallace was taken to the St. Croix County Jail on a disorderly conduct charge, after he was interviewed by police.
Officials with the Somerset School District say an external lockdown at all four of its schools will remain in effect through the end of the day on Thursday. Police will also continue to maintain a presence on the campuses while students are present. Classes inside the schools have been running normally throughout the day.
Somerset is located in St. Croix County, just across the state line from the Twin Cities.
