The Green Bay Packers are once again moving forward without their top quarterback, Aaron Rodgers. The decision is described as “an
organizational decision” and it means it’ll be up to Matt Flynn to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers at Lambeau Field on Sunday to keep the Packers playoff hopes alive.
Mike McCarthy declined to say who made the ultimate call on Rodgers, but that he supported the decision.
Sunday will mark seven weeks since the injury (broken collarbone) occurred. Rodgers has been practicing on a limited basis since late last month, even taking some of the reps with the number 1 offense for the last couple of weeks.
In Rodgers seven starts, the Packers went 5-2 while averaging 30.3 points and 438.9 yards. Without Rodgers, the Packers have gone 2-3-1 while averaging 20.2 points and 362.8 yards a game.
The numbers have gone down, but the way the Packers play the game hasn’t changed. The Packers still throw the ball with Matt Flynn and they have 1,000 yard rusher Eddie Lacy to pound the ball on the ground and he gets better with every game.
