Current state senator and rumored gubernatorial candidate Kathleen Vinehout (D-Alma) is injured Sunday morning in a multi-car crash on Interstate 94, according to a post on her Facebook page. It reads:

“Thank you to everyone who has been asking about Kathleen. Here’s what we know so far. Kathleen’s vehicle was involved in a multi-car accident on I94 near Racine this morning. She is currently receiving care at a local hospital. If more details become available we will do our best to let you know.”

In an earlier tweet (@VinehoutK) on Twitter and a post on Facebook, a message showed cancellations for Vinehout’s Sunday events and urged motorists against unnecessary driving:

CANCELLATIONS FOR TODAY: KENOSHA & RACINE

Unfortunately the weather has once again forced cancellations for these two events. They will be rescheduled as soon as we are able. Please don’t drive in SE Wis today if you don’t have to. Travel is not improving.

Many well wishers posted comments, thoughts, and prayers for the Eau Claire area lawmaker on her Facebook page.

Earlier in the day, the Department of Transportation had urged motorists to avoid and delay travel:

The first significant snowstorm of the season is currently hitting Southeastern Wisconsin. We have experienced multiple crashes on the freeway system as well as off of the freeway system. Weather reports indicate that the storm and clean-up are expected to last through the night and overnight.

Significant crashes have been experienced on I-94 Eastbound / Southbound near County K in Racine County, I-43 near WIS 167 near Mequon in Ozaukee County, in Germantown and Menomonee Falls area on US 41 and 45, near the Hale Interchange on I-43 in Milwaukee County.
