A Fond du Lac man jumped to safety from a fire early Friday morning, but his home was a total loss. Fond du Lac Fire Chief Peter O’Leary said the occupant didn’t feel he could get out safely, “so he bailed out the window.” The man then went to a neighbor’s house and they called 911.
“All in all, although this house is pretty much a complete loss . . . I think we kept everybody as relatively safe as we could,” O’Leary said.
Because of the bitter cold temperatures and all the water used to put out the fire, what remains of the home will have to be boarded up and heated, so the cause of the blaze can be investigated.
