Former Admirals coach, Noel fired

January 13, 2014 By Bill Scott

The Winnipeg Jets have fired their head coach, Claude Noel and replaced him with Paul Maurice.

The former Milwaukee Admirals coach was let go with the Jets in the midst of a five-game losing streak, dropping their record to 19-23-5 and 10 points out of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Noel was hired after the Atlanta Thrashers moved to Winnipeg before the 2011-12′ season.  He went 80-79-18 during his time with the Jets.

Noel helped the Milwaukee Admirals win the AHL’s Calder Cup championship in the 2003-04 season.
