An Illinois man has been found guilty of shocking his wife with a stun gun after she lost a bet on a Green Bay Packers game. According to the Fond du Lac Reporter, 42-year-old John Grant waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday in Dodge County Circuit Court and pleaded no contest to the charge of possession of an electrical weapon. A judge ordered Grant to pay $250 in fines plus court costs.
The charge stemmed from a November 4th incident at a Mayville tavern. According to a criminal complaint, Grant and his wife Nicole were watching the NFL game between the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears. Prior to kickoff, Packers fan Nicole Grant allegedly bet her husband, a Bears fan, that she would allow him to use a stun gun on her for three seconds if Green Bay lost.
The Bears beat the Packers 27-20 and Grant was in court the followng day after allegedly making good on the bet. He told police he didn’t know it was illegal to possess the stun gun in Wisconsin, and that his s wife consented to being shocked as part of the bet.
