Interesting Packers’ season ticket survey with regards to the potential blackout they
were facing in the 49ers playoff game at Lambeau Field. After asking for some background information, the survey eventually got down to the real question. It asked: Not just focussing on this past season, what factors determine if you purchase playoff tickets? Please select the choice for each that best describes the importance you assign to the following factors before making a decision… to purchase playoff tickets each season. They asked you to place a number on the following from 5 being very important, all the way to 1, not important all.
– Direction of Team/Standings/Chance of making playoffs
– Price of tickets
– Injured players unable to contribute
– Ability to re-sell tickets
– Having to buy two games
Now some of these probably apply to many of the 40,000 season ticket holders that initially refused to buy. But what the survey doesn’t ask is this:
“Is your decision based on whether or not the team offers to refund your money based on whether they make the playoffs or not, or if they don’t play two games?
I’ve heard from many season ticket holders that stated this as being the reason why they didn’t plunk their money down, among others. Why can’t this organization face the music? They changed their policy, eliminating refunds. The ticket buying public spoke pretty loud concerning the issue and now the Packers are conducting a survey that doesn’t even include that particular fact.
It’s an inconvenience for the organization to have to refund your money. It’s much better for them to keep it in their pockets and short-term invest to make more off of your money. If they don’t want to at least offer refunds for games not played, then they should be ready to deal with the reaction based on the pulse of the ticket buying public.
