Sawyer County shooting victim dies

January 29, 2014 By WRN Contributor

A woman who suffered a gunshot wound to the head a week and a half ago has died. The Sawyer County Sheriff’s Department says 48-year-old Claudia Bunny succumbed to her injuries on Saturday, about a week after she was injured.

Investigators say she was injured when her boyfriend, 52-year-old Kerry Stevenson of Lousiana, discharged a handgun in or near his truck east of Hayward on January 18th. He then went to a restaurant, where someone called 911 and reported Stevenson was screaming and had blood on him. Stevenson is being held on a million dollar cash bond.

The original charges were reckless injury with a handgun and felony possession of a handgun. Sawyer County officials say an autopsy has been performed and the case is still being investigated.
