Green Bay Phoenix point guard Keifer Sykes scored a career high 34 points, pulled down 8 rebounds and added five assists to pull out a 93-86 overtime victory over UW-Milwaukee at U.S. Cellular Arena on Sunday.
Sykes played a total of 43 minutes and committed no turnovers as Green Bay (13-3, 3-0 Horizon League) won its 8th straight. Their 13-3 start is the best in 17 years.
The Panthers (12-6, 2-2) trailed by as many as 11 in the first half, but took the lead in the second half when Green Bay’s 7’1 center Alec Brown picked up his 3rd personal foul.
The Panthers led 79-72, with 3:29 left before Sykes took over. He scored 7 of UWGB’s final 10 points in regulation. His two final baskets tied the game and put Sykes at the 1,200 point mark for his career.
Green Bay grabbed 23 offensive rebounds and finished with 22 second-chance points.
Alec Brown finished with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Jordan Aaron had 26 for the Panthers.
Green Bay next plays at Wright State on Friday night.
