West Allis man killed in Purdue shooting

January 22, 2014 By Bob Hague

Police say a West Bend native attending Purdue University was shot and killed Tuesday on the campus of the school in West Layfayette, Indiana. The suspect, also a Purdue student, is in custody.

The victim, 21-year-old Andrew Boldt, was killed during the noon hour inside the university’s electrical engineering building. He also worked at the school as a teaching assistant.

Purdue Police Chief John Cox said the alleged shooter, 23-year-old Cody Cousins, singled out Boldt. “The victim appeared to have been targeted by the suspect, and it was no more and no less than that.”

Investigators have not stated what may have motivated Cousins to kill Boldt, what the relationship was between shooter and victim, or what type of gun was used.
