For the third time this season, Wisconsin‘s Nigel Hayes has been named

Nigel Hayes

Nigel Hayes

the Big Ten’s Freshman of the Week.

Hayes hit double figures in scoring in both games this week, including a 14-point performance in Wisconsin’s 60-58 win over Michigan State on Sunday at the Kohl Center.

Hayes has reached double figures in each of Wisconsin’s last three games, averaging 15.0 points per game during that stretch.  He hit 8 of 12 (.667) at the free throw line on Sunday.

Hayes is averaging 10.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game during Big Ten play, while ranking second in the conference in field goal percentage during league games.

Hayes has now been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week more times than any other player in UW history.
