Of the Green Bay Packers numerous unrestricted free agents, there’s none
more important to the team down the road then defensive back Sam Shields.
Talks between the Packers and Shields agent, Drew Rosenhaus are heating up. The two sides met face to face at the NFL Scouting Combine, trying to reach a deal prior to the start of free agency on March 11.
Shields tied his career high with 4 interceptions last season.
If the two sides can’t reach an agreement soon, the Packers could still use the franchise tag on Shields. They’ll have until March 3rd to do so. The franchise tag for a cornerback is expected to be around $11 million this season.
