The University of Wisconsin’s board of regents approved a five-year contract

for head football coach Gary Anderson on Monday.  The deal raises his salary 15% to $2.2-million with annual $100,000 raises.

In Andersen’s first season at Wisconsin, the Badgers finished 9-4 last year.

The NFL’s Cleveland Browns approached Andersen about their head-coaching position in February.

Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez said Andersen didn’t ask for a raise but got one anyway following the interest shown by the Browns.
