Marquette faces Providence tonight

March 4, 2014 By Bill Scott

The Marquette Golden Eagles (17-12, 9-7 Big East) continues its road trip out east to face the Providence Friars (19-10, 9-7) in Big East action.

The two teams are tied for fourth place in the Big East, but it’s the Friars who are considered to be much closer to an NCAA Tournament big than the Golden Eagles.

Marquette is coming off a 17-point loss at No. 8 Villanova on Sunday.  The Golden Eagles starters scored just 17-points in that game.

Marquette most likely, will need to finish strong and make a very deep run in the Big East Tournament to have a chance at an at-large bid in the NCAA tournament.  The Golden Eagles have been in the NCAA tournament for the last eight years.
