Charges have been filed against a Marshfield church employee accused of using the church’s credit card for personal purchases.
A complaint was filed Tuesday against 50-year-old Renee Thompson for felony theft from a business. She’s accused of spending over $22,000 from the Faith Lutheran Church account. Prosecutors say she admitted to using the card to pay for groceries and to buy prepaid credit cards. She was seen on surveillance video at two Marshfield grocery stores making the purchases.
The investigation began in November of last year. Investigators say they have traced unauthorized purchases back to April of 2011 so far.
Thompson is scheduled for an initial appearance in court on on April 14th.
