Panthers win Horizon League opener

March 5, 2014 By Bill Scott

Jordan Aaron and Steve McWhorter combined to score 31 points as the UW-Milwaukee Panthers beat Detroit 83-73 in their Horizon League Tournament opener.

The fifth-seeded Panthers (18-13) advanced to meet fourth-seeded Valparaiso (18-14) in a second round game on Friday (8:30pm) at the Resch Center in Ashwaubenon.

Aaron, who sat out four of the last five games for violating team rules, led the way with 16 points for the Panthers.  Milwaukee shot 51% from the field to win at home in league play for just the 4th time this season.
