Poll finds Walker and Burke tied in governor’s race

March 12, 2014 By Bob Hague

A newly released poll finds Governor Scott Walker and his Democratic challenger Mary Burke tied in the race for governor. It’s the Rasmussen Reports first look at the 2014 governor’s race. The statewide poll of likely Wisconsin voters finds Walker and Burke each earning 45 percent support. Five percent like some other candidate in the race, and another five percent are undecided.

The survey of 500 likely voters was conducted on Monday and Tuesday. The margin of sampling error is plus or minus 4.5 percentage points with a 95 percent level of confidence.

This is the first poll in the governor’s race since the release of more than 28,000 pages of e-mails and documents related to a now-closed John Doe investigation of former aides to Walker when he served as Milwaukee County executive.
