Ryan Braun entered Tuesday’s game against the Phillies in Philadelphia
batting just .150 with no homers and no rbi’s. The thumb issue that plagued him last season has also returned.
With the boos cascading from the Phillies faithful, Braun homered not once, not twice, but three times and drove in a franchise best seven runs in a single game as the Brewers bounced the Phillies 10-4 in their homer opener.
Braun now has 10 homers and 21 rbi’s in 20 career games at Citizens Bank Park. His first two homers came off of Phillies starter Kyle Kendrick. The third came off of reliever Brad Lincoln. It’s the second time that Braun has homered three times in a single game.
Kyle Lohse picked up the win, even though he wasn’t on his “A” game. Lohse allowed three runs and seven hits, while walking five in five innings.
45,061 fans were on hand in Philadelphia and they booed Braun with every trip to the plate. And he had the answer every time.

Jonathan Lucroy also doubled twice, singled and drew a base on balls. Jean Segura, Carlos Gomez, Mark Reynolds and Scooter Gennett also collected two hits each.
The Brewers are now 3-0 on opening day games this season, winning their own home opener, 2-0 over Atlanta, 6-2 at Boston and now 10-4 in Philadelphia.
The Brewers (5-2) have won four straight road games. They’ll try to make it five tonight when Matt Garza (0-1) faces Philadelphia’s Roberto Hernandez (1-0) at 6:05 tonight.
