Two UWSP students killed in crash

April 22, 2014 By WRN Contributor

The Portage County sheriffs department has released the names of the two victims of Monday night’s crash on Highway 66 in Linwood. They are identified as 21-year-old Alexander Reeder of Wisconsin Rapids and his passenger 20-year-old Katherine Axlen of Mukwonago. They were both seniors at UW-Stevens Point.

An accident report says an oncoming minivan made a turn into a private driveway in front of the motorcycle. The van driver has been identified as Sheila Schulfer of Linwood. She and a passenger were uninjured. Sheriffs investigators say alcohol was not a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation. These are the first traffic fatalities of 2014 in Portage County.
