Body found in Eau Claire River

May 26, 2014 By WRN Contributor

Police in Altoona say they have recovered the body of a missing Wausau man.

21-year-old Karter Fitzgerald was found in the Eau Claire River Saturday after going missing on Thursday. Officials say Fitzgerald and another canoeist got too close to the Altoona dam and capsized their boat. The other man did manage to escape to safety.

Fitzgerald’s body was discovered by a fisherman near a golf and country club Saturday afternoon, nearly two miles downstream from the dam.
