Police seek charges in child’s death

May 28, 2014 By WRN Contributor

Town of Menasha police are recommending a charge of first-degree reckless homicide against a 26-year-old man for the death of a three-year-old girl. Officer Jason Weber says the girl died last Wednesday from a traumatic brain injury, about a week after she was taken to a Milwaukee hospital. Investigators were told the girl fell down the stairs and had a seizure, but Weber says the injuries were more consistent with abuse.

26-year-old Ryan Jorgenson has been behind bars on a probation hold, since the girl was taken to a hospital. Winnebago County prosecutors are expected to file formal charges against him Wednesday. Weber says Jorgenson is the fiance of the girl’s mother.
