Truck fire closes Interstate 94 near Eau Claire

May 28, 2014 By WRN Contributor

Interstate 94 near Eau Claire was closed for several hours overnight after a truck crash.

The crash happened at I-94 and State Highway 37 shortly before midnight. The State Patrol says a Fed-Ex semi-truck hit a guard rail, causing a trailer to come loose from the truck and catch fire. The truck driver was reportedly not seriously injured.

Debris from the crash was thrown into the westbound lanes of I-94, so the entire freeway was closed on Eau Claire’s west side for about three hours. Eastbound traffic was detoured until a lane was opened around 7:40 this morning.
