Brewers send Fiers to Nashville

June 26, 2014 By Bill Scott

The Milwaukee Brewers needed to add a fresh arm in their bullpen.  Mike Fiers worked four innings in Tuesday’s 16-inning marathon loss to Washington.  Yesterday, the Brewers optioned Fiers to AAA Nashville.

The Brewers called up Alfredo Figaro to replace Fiers, who ended up pitching two scoreless innings of relief in last night’s 9-2 victory over the Nationals.

Fiers was originally recalled June 8 when Tyler Thornburg went on the 15-day disabled list.  He leaves Milwaukee with an 0-1 record and a 2.57 ERA.  He’s expected to rejoin Nashville’s starting rotation and make a start next Monday.
